The research in the Ostrowski lab focuses on the cardiorespiratory dysfunctions observed in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Besides the well-known memory decline and associated pathological alterations of forebrain structures, AD patients also present with significant problems in cardiovascular and respiratory function. Using an established rodent model of AD, we are trying to identify the underlying mechanisms of these life-threatening disturbances.
